Illinois Learner's Permit

In Illinois, you must be at least 15years old to get your learners permit. Your learner's license is considered Stage 1 of the Illinois Graduated License Law and requires a minimum of 50 hours of supervised behind-the-wheel driving practice including 10 hours of nighttime driving. All new drivers are also required to take a written Road Rules and Road Signs knowledge test which contains questions on Illinois traffic laws, road signs and rules of safe driving. At Stage 2, after you have held your learners license for 9 months you are eligible to take your road test when you turn 16 years of age.
